Chicago White Sox

One of the well known professional baseball teams in Chicago, Illinois, the Chicago White Sox are a part of the American League’s Central Division. The team has been playing in U.S. Cellular Field since the year 1991. One of the crowning moments of glory for the Chicago White Sox was when they won the World Series in the year 2005 beating the Houston Astros in four games.

History of the Chicago White Sox

It is one of the eight charter franchises of the American League. The establishment of the Chicago team dates back to the year 1901. Initially, the club was known as Chicago White Stockings. The early years of the club dating between 1901 and 1914 was popularly regarded to be the age of Clark Griffith who was both their Manager and pitcher. By 1915, the team managed to finish in 3rd place with a record of 93-61. In the following year, they finished at the 2nd position at 89-65 mainly because of the wonderful performance of their pitcher Lefty Williams.

The year 1917 saw the Chicago White Sox at the zenith of their success. With a startling record of 100-54, they became the World Champions. They also won the pennant by 9 games over the Boston Red Sox. After that, the period between 1922 and 1950 were the most unproductive years for the team where their performance levels decreased to their lowest possible limit. More recently, the team is trying to regain back its lost glory and appreciation from its supporters.
